Even when taken outside of a spiritual context, it’s easy to tell who or what a person worships….If you pay attention to what or who they spend the most time on you find the object of their affection.…According to Dictionary, worship means “extravagant respect or admiration for or devotion to an object of esteem.” The definition of Worship is to ascribe worth to someone or something or place value on it. You can worship pretty much anything…money, people, materialism…it’s so easy to “worship” things around you without realizing that you’re actually doing so.
The second commandment in the Bible, Exodus 20:4, says “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.” Idols are considered anything that you worship, or place above God. It’s vital to the life of your worship team to clearly define what worship is and to make sure you’re giving it to God and God alone. In public and in private.
Now that we’ve defined what worship is, there are two things we need to understand:
1.) First, it’s imperative to realize that our church body will only value worship unto God as much as you do. It’s important to realize that worship isn’t just something that happens at church or externally, but that it’s a lifestyle and a heart posture as well. Make personal worship time with God a priority. (i.e. morning devotion, bible reading, chillin’ at home, turn off the TV or youTube and just put on some worship music and go after GOD!) People can only go as far in corporate worship as you’ve gone in your personal worship time. They can’t go any higher or further than you. Worship leading is exactly that. You can’t take people where you haven’t been before—bottom line!
The second thing we need to realize is that we are called and set apart. Deuteronomy 10:8 says, …” at that time the Lord called the Levites set apart to stand before the Lord to minister and pronounce blessing on His name…” Whether you are the worship ministry director, the student worship leader, a member of the band, choir, audio/visual…YOU are chosen. You have to walk worthy of the calling. Live a life above reproach--You are a leader, and like it or not, people look at you as one!

Hey guys! We here at Trinity Church, are just thrilled to get this new project in your hands!! We released it on 12//11//11 and we have gotten a lot of love and support from all of you. This was a great creative outlet for all of our worship leaders/artists collectively. It really pushed us to think outside the box and find new sounds and ways to worship THE Creator.

This year I have fought hard to read through the bible in a year and so far so good. In year's past I would read, but just the fun stuff, but I have to say being diligent with the word this year is changing my life, really. Things I've read before just jumping off the pages, or things that I can't believe I've never read before. How in the world did I miss the parable about the shrewd business manager who Jesus basically says use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. I'm still trying to understand what the deep meaning is.
